Starting French as an adult is easier with a clear structure and a teacher who keeps the class practical. Beginner modules introduce pronunciation, everyday vocabulary, essential grammar and simple conversations you can reuse outside the classroom.
Our regular adult French classes are designed for busy learners in Singapore. Each 20-hour module usually runs once a week for ten weeks, so you can build speaking, listening, reading and writing steadily without overloading your schedule.
Adult group courses follow a clear CEFR-inspired progression from A1 beginner foundations towards stronger A2, B1 and B2 communication. Each module has a practical objective: understand useful French, speak more naturally, read and write with better accuracy, and build the confidence to use French outside class.
Choose the format that fits your routine. Novena is French Toast's central Singapore centre for office-hour and after-work learners, while selected online classes are available when commuting is difficult. East Coast learners can follow the sister-school pathway at French Studio in Katong.
Novena, online and sister-school options
Adult learners can follow French Toast courses at Novena or in selected live online classes. If East Coast is more convenient, French Studio is our sister school for learners around Katong and Marine Parade.
Lessons are not only grammar explanations. You practise the four language skills together, with listening, speaking, reading and writing activities that reinforce each other. Teachers correct pronunciation, explain grammar in context and help learners speak in a way that feels useful in real situations.
Most adult modules use a structured French textbook and workbook so learners have a visible path between lessons. The book gives continuity, while the teacher adds speaking practice, cultural notes, correction and classroom interaction. Homework is usually recommended, especially if you want to progress steadily from one module to the next.
Course materials
Adult group courses commonly use the Hachette FLE Inspire series, selected by level from A1 to B2. The books give each module a clear progression while teachers add speaking practice, correction and cultural context.
Inspire is an adult-focused French method from Hachette FLE. It supports communication, autonomy, grammar in context and DELF-style checkpoints across the adult progression.

Beginner adult modules usually start with Inspire 1 for A1-level foundations, then continue with higher Inspire levels as learners progress through Elementary, Intermediate and Advanced modules.
Preview Inspire 1Adult group classes are ideal if you want a social rhythm, a clear timetable and regular interaction with classmates. Private tuition is better when you need a very specific schedule, faster pacing, exam preparation, business French or lessons built around a personal objective.
As you progress, lessons place more emphasis on spontaneous speaking, listening confidence and accuracy. Elementary and intermediate learners consolidate grammar, expand vocabulary and practise real-life situations such as travel, food, opinions, work and culture.
