For primary school children aged 6 to 11, French lessons need rhythm, repetition and encouragement. The primary course helps younger learners build pronunciation, listening, first reading, simple writing and classroom confidence through activities that match their age.
Depending on the level, teachers may use child-friendly resources such as Hachette’s Les Loustics, together with songs, games, picture prompts and short writing exercises. The book gives children a familiar structure from week to week, while classroom activities help them use French actively.
For secondary and JC learners aged 12 and above, lessons become more structured and academically focused. Students work on grammar, vocabulary, guided writing, listening comprehension and oral confidence, with support for French-in-lieu, third-language learners and school priorities.
Secondary and JC learners need materials that feel more mature and purposeful. Course materials may include recognised teen-focused resources such as Hachette’s Adomania series, complemented by teacher-created revision, conversation and school-support exercises.
French Toast Language Centre is registered with MOE as a private school. We support eligible students who study French in lieu of mother tongue, as well as children learning French as an additional language. Parents can request official registration letters and certificates of completion when required by the school.
Franco classes help French-speaking children maintain regular contact with French, strengthen reading and writing, and stay connected with the language beyond everyday conversation. These classes are especially useful for families who want French to remain active while living in Singapore.
