Primary school children French course

For primary school children aged 6 to 11, French lessons need rhythm, repetition and encouragement. The primary course helps younger learners build pronunciation, listening, first reading, simple writing and classroom confidence through activities that match their age.

  • For primary children aged 6 to 11
  • Beginner to higher intermediate levels
  • 1.5-hour weekly classes
  • Small groups with native and experienced French teachers

Primary French with Les Loustics-style resources

Depending on the level, teachers may use child-friendly resources such as Hachette’s Les Loustics, together with songs, games, picture prompts and short writing exercises. The book gives children a familiar structure from week to week, while classroom activities help them use French actively.

  • Pronunciation and listening through songs and repetition
  • First reading and spelling habits
  • Simple sentence patterns and everyday vocabulary
  • Short homework to reinforce classroom learning

Secondary & JC French course

For secondary and JC learners aged 12 and above, lessons become more structured and academically focused. Students work on grammar, vocabulary, guided writing, listening comprehension and oral confidence, with support for French-in-lieu, third-language learners and school priorities.

  • For secondary and JC learners aged 12+
  • 2-hour weekly classes
  • French-in-lieu and MOE pathway support
  • Oral confidence and exam-style practice when relevant

Adomania and teen-focused learning

Secondary and JC learners need materials that feel more mature and purposeful. Course materials may include recognised teen-focused resources such as Hachette’s Adomania series, complemented by teacher-created revision, conversation and school-support exercises.

  • Topics suitable for teenagers
  • Structured textbook pathway with teacher-led practice
  • Support for longer answers and clearer written French
  • Homework and revision habits for steady progress

French-in-lieu and MOE documentation

French Toast Language Centre is registered with MOE as a private school. We support eligible students who study French in lieu of mother tongue, as well as children learning French as an additional language. Parents can request official registration letters and certificates of completion when required by the school.

  • MOE registration letters available
  • Primary, secondary and JC pathways
  • Support for school documentation where applicable
  • Suitable for children beginning French or continuing after previous exposure

French-speaking children and bilingual families

Franco classes help French-speaking children maintain regular contact with French, strengthen reading and writing, and stay connected with the language beyond everyday conversation. These classes are especially useful for families who want French to remain active while living in Singapore.

  • Maintain spoken French outside the home
  • Build literacy, spelling and sentence structure
  • Keep cultural and language connection alive
  • Small groups with age-appropriate expectations

Learner experiences

What our students say

I've always been interested in the French Language but was under the impression it was too difficult. My teacher made it so interesting and lively that I've decided to continue with Beginner 2, and hopefully if time permits, up to some advance level. Thanks and keep up the liveliness !!!

PaulineAdult French Course
